Happy Name Day!
Almost one year ago our graphic designer here at Numerology.com gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. The minute she told me what she and her husband had decided to name the baby, what's the first thing I did? Run back to my desk and start calculating her name Numerology, of course!
I love the concept that the name you were given is the perfect name for you -- I know I was truly born to be a Stacey. In Numerology, the idea is that, when naming a child, the parents are tapping into the vibrations of their child's personality, thereby choosing the perfect name.
But did you know that the name you pick for your child -- and YOUR name that was picked for you! -- actually has a day of the year associated with it? It does, and it's called your Name Day!
Long ago, as Christianity began to spread, celebrating the date of one's birth was viewed as a pagan tradition. So instead of celebrating a person on their date of birth, that person was honored on their Name Day: the day of the year associated with the saint after whom they were named.
Obviously these days, we're not all named after saints ... but those of us with names that aren't completely out there still have a Name Day. Mine? October 28th.
Celebrating Name Days tends to be a European tradition, but even if you're outside of Europe, you can still have fun with your Name Day! This site has an easy lookup tool organized by the first letter of your name, and covers many U.S. names. Online, I also found tons of resources for names from other countries, so be sure to search for your Name Day online, even if you don't find it on this list!
Have fun, and by all means, don't forget to buy me wine and flowers on October 28 :)
