2013: Your New Personal Year Number

Ready ... set ... 2013! Here we go into a totally fresh, untouched, brand-new year. Though every day of our lives is really a fresh start, an opportunity to change things for the better, there's just something about the tangible transition from one year to the next that feels so much more definite, more inspiring and powerful.

In Numerology, two numbers that are right next to each other (1 and 2, 2 and 3, 3 and 4, etc.) tend to be quite opposite. As we move from one year to the next, the number that rules the year increases by one each year. As we make the switch from 2012 to 2013, we transition from a wild, dynamic 5 Universal Year into a more comforting, caring 6 Universal Year -- see? Opposites.

As Hans Decoz described in his 2013 Numerology Predictions, 2013 is our first step into the downward slope of this current and very powerful 9-year cycle. The 6 is a positive and compassionate number, but 2013 holds its share of conflict. That being said, what you will experience this year is more directly influenced by your new Personal Year number.

To figure out your Personal Year for 2013, take your Sun Number (your birth month and date added, then reduced to a single digit), then add 6 (for the year 2013), and reduce the sum to a final single digit. For instance, if your Sun Number is 2, add 6 to that and you are in an 8 Personal year. If your Sun Number is 8, add 6 to that and you get 14, then reduce that further and you are in a 5 Personal Year (because 14 = 1 + 4 = 5). Once you've figured out your new Personal Year number for 2013, here's the mood that may be coming your way!

Personal Year 1: A year of new beginnings, seed-planting and high energy
Personal Year 2: A year of relationships, sensitivity and cooperation
Personal Year 3: A year of creativity, motivation and inspiration
Personal Year 4: A year of hard work, discipline and opportunities
Personal Year 5: A year of change, freedom and unpredictability
Personal Year 6: A year of responsibility, domestic affairs and service
Personal Year 7: A year of contemplation, self-awareness and spiritual atonement
Personal Year 8: A year of reward, respect and recognition
Personal Year 9: A year of completion, release and transformation
